Artist's Statement:

This collection is part of my “Haiti Series,” painted with acrylics on
various types of canvas and papers. I created them in April-May 2010
in consideration of a May 9, 2010 Mother's Day Benefit Art Show and Sale
for the St. Croix School in Haiti.

Although Google Earth will sadly show a devastated Port au Prince,
I look beyond the immediate reality of an earthquake-destroyed nation,
towards the resilient spirit of the Haitian people and the inherent beauty
of the island.
